The Canterbury Tales
Hello. My name is Shougo Mizuguchi. I would like to post about the Canterbury Tales. This story was written by Geoffrey Chaucer in Middle English. He is not only a poet but also government worker and diplomat. He has written about over 500 works. This story is about Pilgrimage which means a trip to a sacred or holy place. The people in the Canterbury Tales are going the shrine of Saint Thomas Becket at Canterbury Cathedral. 27 Pilgrims are described by the Narrator of the Tales, and generally, this story is filled with tolerance and humor. The story is not a simple medley of stories and each story has high artistic quality, so the story is one of the masterpiece in the Middle Ages and a book of literary value. Thank you.
