Hamlet

Hello. My name is Sakata Shingo. I would like to post about my impression of Hamlet.
Hamlet is the most popular tragedy in Shakespeare's plays. I thought this British literature course was good opportunity for reading any classical literature, so I chose Hamlet and read it.
It is my first time to read a play. Therefore, I felt strangely at first because it was different from novels. I had to get used to its difference.
I thought Hamlet is genuine tragic play before reading it. However, I feel it's not so genuine after reading it.
Surely, Hamlet dies in tragic destiny. But, in that destiny he seems not to notice he is in treble destiny. No, I felt he perhaps enjoys his destiny. Sometimes he is depressed and sad because of death of his father or Ophelia. However, he usually use irony, say joke, and dose theatrical behavior by preference. In addition, he can be cruel like as he kill Polonius. He is not the person who just writhe with his conduction. So, sometimes I feel it comical due to behavior of Hamlet. That is the reason I feel it's not so genuine.
The drawing is Ophelia by John Everett Millais. So beautiful.
